New Month, New Me (Again.....)

First day of October! Gosh this year has FLOWN by! The Holiday Season has just begun. First Halloween, then Thanksgiving then CHRISTMAS!!! Add into that all the birthday's plus trying to plan a wedding and my eyes start going crossed! I'm going to need some serious help to get through the next few months!

I've been thinking about discipline. I have no self discipline. NONE! I can't stick with anything for very long. (I know this is a major change of subject from what I was talking about before but hang with me a little bit. I promise I'll make sense!)

I tried Gymnastics when I was a kid. Quit.

Violin lessons? Quit.

Girl Scouts? Quit.

College? Quit.

I'm tired of quitting! I find it very hard to discipline myself to a routine. I'm more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of person. And I talk myself into any reason to quit something. (I did quit smoking 2 years ago (cold turkey!) so I will give me a couple brownie points for that!)

This is my resolution to Quit Quitting! LOL With a new month and the holidays upon us I need all the routine and sanity I can get. Below are my resolutions for the following year!

1. Get up every morning and MOVE MY BODY!
I have followed www.toneitup.com for a couple years now and have their Nutrition Plan and everything. But again, I quit on them. No more! I need more energy and my body is not in very good shape at all! There is no reason to QUIT this again!

2. Go back to school!
I have already started this ball rolling. I went and applied for school last week and signed up for Orientation today. I am finally following my dream of becoming a Marine Biologist. Yes, I know I'm going to be about twice the age of all the other students but I'm tired of living with the regret of never finishing college.

3. Blog more!

I enjoy writing and reading. I have had this blog for some time now but I'm not disciplined enough to make my self sit down and write for a little bit a day! I'm going to work on that! I love to read other peoples' blogs and am so envious of their perfectly written beautiful blogs with pictures and links to this and that. I want to know how to do that! So I'm going to work on it!

Those are my resolutions so far! I may add more as this project progresses! We will see what each day holds! This blog will be for public accountability. It will be my place to clear out my head and put what I'm thinking into words.
Hope you enjoy!

My Love Letter to Charleston

My parents used to take me to Charleston, SC when I was a little girl. I wish we would have continued to go as I grew up. I can't tell you how many times I have been to that wonderful city but every time I go I still feel like I'm seeing it for the first time! The way the city opens up to you as you drive over the new Ravenel Bridge is like she is saying, "Welcome Home! We missed you!" My heart yearns for Charleston. And if you've never been there, you won't get what I'm saying.

I love to visit the city with people who have never been before! I love doing all the "touristy" things. Boone Hall Plantation, The Battery, USS Yorktown, the carriage rides where the tour guide tells you all the wonderful secrets and history of the town, etc. There is so much to see and do there is no way to do it all in a week! I could walk the streets of Charleston for days just discovering new places and wonderful photographic spots. I recently visited with my Mom (click here to view post) and I think I drove her crazy with how many times I made her stop and wait while I got the perfect shot!

My favorite house on The Battery; The Edmondston-Alston House
Charleston just holds a certain charm for me. I will live there one day. Not in one of the beautiful homes on the Battery but somewhere close. I will be able to see the the beautiful city every morning and instead of saying, "Welcome Back." it will be saying, "Good morning! What are we exploring today!?" All my dreams are held in Charleston. If anyone asks me what I want out of life my explanation always has Charleston as the setting. It's weird to call it my home since I've never lived there but it is the place where I am the happiest. I know their are other Southerners out there that feel the same way! Please comment below and let me know what your favorite thing about Charleston is!

Dream Come True!

I was able to cross something off my bucket list this past weekend and am so happy that I was able to experience what I did! My Mom and I traveled down to the Isle of Palms to watch 7 sea turtles be released after being rehabilitated at the Turtle Hospital located at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, SC. I am obsessed with the little guys and have always wanted to be a Marine Biologist.

This one is Little River. S/he is a Loggerhead turtle and weighs 73 pounds. It was discovered in the Little River in May 2011 with propeller strikes to the shell and a partial front flipper amputated. It was so great to see it be released back into the wild.

The staff and volunteers at the Turtle Hospital work very hard to help these turtles. You can follow the hospital and it's turtle patients on their blog. Click here to check them out! All species of sea turtles are at risk of extinction! Education and conservation are very important to keep them around!

"In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught" - Baba Dioum

After we watched the release, my Mom and I traveled into Charleston to do some shopping and have lunch. I love Charleston and highly recommend the city if you have never been. I love the history and the culture the town has to offer! There is so much to do and see no matter what you are into!

One of my favorite pictures I took!

Waterfront Park is gorgeous! A must see!
It truly was a wonderful weekend! I spent it in my favorite place doing some of my favorite things! I couldn't have asked for more!!

Hope everyone else had a fantastic weekend as well! Happy Monday!

Let me introduce myself...

So to start off I thought I would share a little about myself! I found this questionnaire floating around the blog world so I thought I would have some fun with it!

I am new to the blog world so any tips and tricks you can give would be great!

A. Age: 31 but I definitely don't feel it!

B. Bed size: Queen!

C. Chore you dislike: Ironing. It's so boring!!

D. Dogs: I don't have any dogs but I LOVE them and want one really bad! We currently live in an apartment and would have to pay a pet fee on top of pet rent every month.

E. Essential start to your day: Wake up the Youngin' and draggin his butt outta bed for breakfast! Have to make sure his lunch is made and backpack packed and then it's out the door to school!

F. Favorite color: My favorite color has and always will be blue. Any shade of it! It makes me think of a blue sky or, my favorite, the ocean!

G. Gold or silver: Silver all the way! I have never been a big fan of gold.

H. Height: 5 foot 6

I. Instruments you play(ed):  I played the violin for a year in the 3rd grade. Never really took to it. Haven't played an instrument since!

J. Job title: Currently unemployed! Planning on taking the summer off with my little one!

K. Kids: I have an 8 year old son who is growing way too fast for his own good!

L. Live: Of course I will not be giving out my exact location but I do live in the great state of South Carolina! My Father's job moved us from Illinois to SC when I was 2. I don't remember living in the North and thank goodness I don't! I'm a Southern Girl through and through! Give me warm weather all year round! I hate the cold and I despise snow!

M. Mom’s name: Sharon

N. Nicknames: Binzie, Binz, (Normally by a certain Aunt and Uncle up North) and Lind-SAY (which I can't stand and it's the name I get the most)

O. Overnight hospital stays: I had ear surgery when I was young but that was a long time ago.

P. Pet peeves: I think I suffer the worst from road rage so anybody who doesn't drive the way I think they should is my biggest pet peeves! And people who are just flat out rude and have no class REALLY get on my nerves. It just amazes me how rude people can be!

Q. Quote from a movie: "Frankly my Dear, I don't give a damn." is the first movie quote to come to mind. Gone with the Wind is  one of my favorite movies!

R. Righty or lefty: Right!

S. Siblings: I'm the baby of the family! I have an older Brother and an older Sister. My Sister is 11  years older than me and my Brother is older than her so it felt like I had 2 sets of parents when I was growing up!

T. Time you wake up: During the week I get up at 6:45 to get my Son up and going. But on the weekends I do like to sleep in some. But not too late so that the day is wasted!

U. University: After I graduated from High School (oh so many years ago!) I attended the local Technical College where I went for a year. I took a semester of Nursing classes and realized it wasn't for me so I changed my major to Marketing. I only took a semester in that as well and had the hair-brained idea that it was better to go ahead and start working full-time instead of finish college. Biggest mistake! I never went back and to this day it is my biggest regret!

V. Vegetables you don’t’ like: Hmmmmm? Cauliflower, Okra, and Tomatoes would be the top 3 I don't like.

W. What makes you run late: My son! No matter what time I get him up he is always so slow in the mornings!

X. X-rays you’ve had: I can't think of any right off the bat to be honest.

Y. Yummy food you make: I am not a big cook but I have been doing better lately. I can make a pretty good Spinach Artichoke Dip. My favorite would have to be my Shrimp and Grits!

Z. Zoo animal favorites: When the Zoo near us had Polar Bears they were my favorite but they have gotten rid of them. My favorite animals aren't really in a Zoo but an Aquarium! I am GAGA for Sea Turtles!! They are so innocent and helpless! They really tug on my heart strings. Really anything to do with the ocean gets me excited! Sharks, Fish, Dolphins, Whales etc. Everything but JellyFish! They are evil! And something about me draws them to me! I have been stung twice and have literally seen them swim in between people to come directly for me! I hate them!!

This blog is just going to be my ramblings and thoughts (what blog isn't hmm?). I love reading other peoples blogs and see what other peoples lives are like! So I figured why not start a blog of my own! Hope you like it!
